hundred individual butterflies in a series down to a tiny complex pattern on the wings of a single dragonfly. I leave a white background on many of my paintings to allow it to speak without interruption and when alongside others in the series, it becomes one voice in the arrangement. This also allows me to digitally use them in marketable designs for commercial licensing. When I do paint a background, I unite the subject to its environment spontaneously through patterns of color, texture, and shape.

A little about me,...

My parents owned a local newspaper when I was little where I spent many hours at my own little desk they set up for me. I had my box of broken crayons and a full wall of colored paper to choose from. At age 4, when someone from the creative department wanted to use my drawing in an ad, I truly believed I was a professional artist. I took every art class offered in school and went on to receive a BFA from FSU in graphic design and have been a graphic designer for over twenty years. I have created designs for a long list of leading industries such as Ashworth Golf Wear, Oracle, Cisco, Applied Materials, and Sun Microsystems. I have worked for a variety of ad agencies as well as corporate marketing departments.

I love creating all kinds of art but I am a prolific watercolor artist. I have had my paintings shown in multiple Better Homes & GardensĀ® publications, as well as galleries around San Diego, including the prestigious San Diego Watercolor Society (SDWS), and I have been an art judge at the world class San Diego Fair.

Living in the San Diego area, I have been selling directly to the public but have started licensing my art on request. With over 500 paintings in my catalog, I can visualize my work on many different products such as note cards, porcelain and paper products as well as fabric, wall art, household items, book covers and package design.

Artist statement,...

I paint to feed a craving. I choose watercolor for it best feeds this craving through the feel of the brush on fine papers, the explosion of color it creates as it connects to the paper, and the joy I feel as my subject comes to life. I paint representations of living things and express them through my interest of repetitive pattern, developed during my years as a graphic designer. My patterns range from painting a
